Cooking affects the taste of corn.

Cooking a corn is not a task as complex as cooking a steak; however it is important to use the right method to maximize the taste of this Quebec treasure. Three choices are available: boiling water, barbecue, or microwave oven.

The boiling water

Would you think of using milk instead of salt water? Surprisingly, boiling the corn in 3.25% milk makes it more creamy and sweet. For larger quantities, for example in a corn roast, you can use water. This option is much cheaper. Nevertheless, make sure to properly salt your water. It must taste the sea! As for cooking time, 7 to 10 minutes is enough.

The BBQ

First, you have to decide if you prefer to cook it with or without peel, because the heat of the grill won’t be the same. For the method with peel, place the corn directly on the oiled rack for 7 to 10 minutes. The steam that will form inside the corn will cook it. Then, for the method without peel, the process will be the same. However, you must adjust your barbecue at a lower temperature. Note that in this way the corn will have a more pronounced and smoky taste.

The microwave oven

You have a busy life? No need to deprive yourself of corn for that. The microwave method is perfect for you. First of all, remove the peel on the corn and then put butter on it. Finally, wrap it in a plastic wrap. Depending on your microwave, cooking time will vary between 1 minute and a half and 4 minutes.
